Faye Young MBACP (Accred). Adv.Dip.Psych.Couns
PSYCHODYNAMIC COUNSELLOR
I have worked in various settings within the LGBT community, forensic mental health and MIND. I regularly attend workshops, seminars, do research and am a member of The Gender Trust and The Beaumont Society, which enables me to keep up to date with the latest information. I am also a member of the Directory of Pink Therapists as well as listed as a Kink Aware Professional. I have experience of working with lesbians, gay men, bisexual men and women, transvestites and the transgender community pre op, post op MtF and FtM, as well as extensive knowledge in the mental health field.
I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist, as well as a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist. I am fully insured to carry out therapy.
As an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I adhere to a strict code of ethics and am subject to its complaints procedure.
As with any ethical counsellor, I regularly attend supervision where all details regarding clients are kept strictly confidential and the client remains anonymous.
Counselling is for 50 minutes and benefits from weekly regular attendance. This will usually be on the same day and time each week.
Psychodynamic counselling benefits from long term work but it is always up to the client when they choose to end. It does, however, benefit the client to have at least 2 - 3 months to work through the ending as this can often bring up painful past experiences. My aim as a counsellor is to free clients of past issues and allow them to be themselves today. The outcome of which is to provide them with inner strength to deal with both present and future occurrences in their lives.
